02 - Design system

What components did I introduce?

I designed, tested and introduced the following components for the ecosystem's design system.

What components did I iterate?

I found some legacy components, so I decided to test, iterate and update the following.

Other things I worked on.

Some of the problems when working in a large community, are that not everyone will be aware of the new components, and due to the large selection of tools, some designers designed without the using our components and some components might be implemented incorrectly.

What does the products look like?

New sales in Europe

As part of the Servicing team, I helped demo our capabilities and secure 5 new, big, clients.

KPI overachievement

As a new department in HCL, the European sales team was more successful than anticipated.

Less design fix tickets

We used to ask colleagues to fix their designs because they would use components the wrong way.

06 - Takeaways

What did I learn?

  • Specialised audience: This was my first time that I designed for technical users and I would need a different research and testing approach.
  • Enterprise software: This was my first time that I designed a software that would be used daily by people for work.
  • Community contribution: A fantastic opportunity to experience a large community of colleagues and to be proactive in order to contribute and improve little things in our ways of work.
  • Large scale presentations: I had presented to teams before, but never to such large audiences, which was a great challenge to overcome, especially when it was time for Q&A during my presentations.
  • Sales pitch: As a designer for a B2B SaaS company, I didn't expect to be involved in sales calls, but getting exposure to prototyping for demo purposes and presenting with the intent to sell, helped me practice my pitch presentation skills.
  • Wikis and documentation: Keeping documentation up-to-date polished my organisational skills and taught me not to procrastinate on housekeeping tasks, and I found it very rewarding to write Wikis for my colleagues so we can all learn from each other.

Thank you!
